HDI is seeking a talented and ambitious Underwriter specializing in Property for a newly created position to join Global SE branch located in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The position is part of a dynamic team comprising one Lead Underwriter, one Senior Underwriter, one Underwriter and three Engineers – supported by experienced admins. The team is not only highly professional but also possesses extensive experience and a profound understanding of complex risks within the Nordic market. HDI has established a strong presence throughout the Nordics, demonstrating their commitment to delivering exceptional underwriting services in the region.

With reference to the Head of Industrial Lines, the Property Underwriter will primarily be responsible for – and not limited to – the underwriting and analysis of all Property requests in the Nordics. That also includes renewals and portfolio performance including client relationship and negotiation.

Responsibilities and duties include:

• Building and being responsible for own Nordic portfolio with premium settings, quotations, negotiations and measuring exposure and analyzing risk, preparation of policies and terms
• Maintaining existing portfolio in timely manner including renewals, negotiations, premium settings and measuring exposure and analyzing risk
• Ensure that coverage and risk are always in accordance with HDI’s key competences and value proposition offering
• Supporting and executing the HDI underwriting strategy and underwriting excellence
• Establish and strengthen strong relationships with stakeholders in the Nordics, including customers, brokers and colleagues with an eye to drive and build business opportunities
• Close collaboration with HDI Sales and Distribution to identify strong pipeline and cross-sell opportunities
• Prepare and analyze profitability reports and claims data together with underwriters, referrals and actuaries

Depending on the activity there will be approximately 10-20 days of travel per year. This includes participating in relevant training and exchange programs at the headquarters in Hanover.

HDI is looking for a team player who thrives with maintaining and building a client portfolio. The ideal candidate has:

• Relevant BA/Master or relevant insurance industry education
• 2 years of experience with technical property underwriting
• Proven experience in handling international programs/clients are preferred
• Professionally well-founded with strong communication skills
• Strong analytical skills, structured and detail-oriented
• Team mentality – collaborates effectively across departments
• Learning mindset
