LIABILITY UNDERWRITER

HDI is looking for a skilled and motivated Underwriter specializing in Liability for a newly created position at their Global SE branch located in Copenhagen with direct report to the Liability Manager.

The position is part of a dynamic team comprising one Manager, two Senior Underwriters, four Underwriters and two Student. This team is not only highly professional but also possesses extensive experience and a profound understanding of complex risks within the Nordic market. The role involves close collaboration with all underwriters and relevant stakeholders, including sales and distribution team, administration team, risk engineers, claims team, and strategic underwriters based at their home office. Together, HDI strives to maintain their leadership position in the Nordic insurance market by leveraging their collective expertise and focus on performance.

The Liability Underwriter will primarily be responsible for and not limited to the underwriting and analysis of all General Liability and Products Liability risks in The Nordics. This includes renewals and portfolio performance including client relationships, negotiation and selling.

Responsibilities and duties include:

• Building up and being responsible for your Nordic portfolio, quotations, negotiations and measuring exposure and analyzing risk, preparation of policies and terms
• Servicing an existing portfolio including renewals, negotiations, pricing and risk analysis
• Ensure adherence to guidelines and processes
• Live and execute the HDI underwriting strategy
• Strive for underwriting excellence by developing professionally and living HDI underwriting DNA
• Establish and strengthen strong relationships with stakeholders in the Nordics, including customers, brokers with an eye to drive and build business opportunities
• Close collaboration with HDI Sales and Distribution to identify strong pipeline and cross-sell opportunities
• Prepare and analyze profitability reports and claims data together with underwriters, referrals and actuaries

Depending on the activity there will be approximately 10-20 days of travel per year.

HDI is looking for a Liability Underwriter who appreciates teamwork and can help build on and maintain the existing Nordic portfolio.

The ideal candidate has:

• Preferably a master’s degree – alternatively an insurance professional education from the Insurance Academy
• 3-5 years’ experience in General and Products Liability underwriting
• Strong technical underwriting capabilities
• Analytical and data-driven decision-making
• Commercial mindset, including negotiation skills
• Portfolio and profitability understanding
• Strong communication and stakeholder influencing skills
• Team collaboration across functions
• Governance, compliance, and accountability mindset
• Learning agility and continuous development mindset
• Digital literacy
• Fluent in Danish and English, both written and verbal
